Right now the app is fairly simple, and uses public data. It is hard to see how it can be used for harm, and we designed it that way.
That said, our mission recognizes that the world has people in it who seek to do harm, and we are not ignorant of the harm that can be done online. We also know that we have not foreseen all possible uses.
Therefore we reserve the right to remove access to the app if you do not follow these reasonable expectations, which you would need to go out of your way to break. We will also contact law enforcement if laws are broken.
Do not use this app to target others for harm, in any way.
I am unsure how you would, but if you decide to, you lose access forever. That isn’t what this is about.
Do not extract data from this app.
Go to the sources listed for the data instead. We have adjusted the data and scoring for this presentation, and their data is cleaner. Also: it is their data. Please see https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/2020_precincts
Do not attempt to directly access the API, or overwhelm it.
We have taken measures to mitigate this, but we will kick you out if you try. If you attempt a security breach, we will contact law enforcement.
